Changelog

What's new

Customer-facing releases and major platform changes across the Synthetic catalog — AE MCP, AE Agent, Premiere MCP and AutoEdit Pro. Updated when something new ships, not every internal commit.

v2.4.0New
New

After Effects MCP v2.4.0 — In-panel auto-update. When After Effects starts, the panel checks for a newer version and shows an 'Update now' banner. It verifies SHA256 for each file, backs up before overwriting, and rolls back if anything fails. Covers main.js / ae-bridge.jsx / index.html updates (95% of fixes). Rare structural changes (new manifest) still need a fresh .zxp. Re-install the v2.4.0 panel from /dashboard/downloads once to activate the feature; after that, no more manual download-and-install trips.

v2.3.0Fixed
Fixed

After Effects MCP v2.3.0 — Panel mode fix: the bridge now honors the server's per-call timeout (was hardcoded at 25s inside the panel) and the server tolerates both the old and new panel response shapes. Heavy ops (frame rate on 100+ comps via panel) finish without being cut. Server v2.3.0 auto-updates via npx; to unlock the per-call configurable timeout, re-install the signed .zxp from /dashboard/downloads (new version 2.3.0).

v2.2.1Fixed
Fixed

After Effects MCP v2.2.1 — Critical install fix: the 'npx @synthetic-ai/ae-mcp' command shown in docs and the dashboard now works end-to-end. The package didn't declare an executable binary, so MCP clients reported 'Server disconnected' on install. Fixed by declaring the bin. Anyone on 2.2.0 with a manual workaround (pointing node at dist/server.mjs) can revert to the standard command.

v2.2.0New
New

After Effects MCP v2.2.0 — Learning loop. The MCP now journals the JSX snippets you repeat the most, and you (or Claude) can promote them into brand-new tools with their own schema — no rebuild, no AE restart. Each customer ends up with an MCP shaped to their workflow. Full docs at /docs/ae-mcp/learning-loop.

Fixed

Also includes a critical fix: published v2.0.0 and v2.1.0 npm tarballs were missing files and failed to load on clean installs. Updating via npx resolves it automatically.

v2.1.0Fixed
Fixed

After Effects MCP v2.1.0 — heavy operations (frame rate changes across dozens of comps, batch renders) no longer freeze the server or cascade after a timeout. Async AfterFX.exe spawn, non-blocking script lock. Auto-updates via npx — new clients receive the fixed version on next launch.
