License and AI chat
Two things to get ready: activate your license and, if you want, connect an AI.
1. Activate your license
- Copy your license key: it arrived by email and it is also in your account, at /dashboard/licenses.
- In the panel click the Settings gear (top right), paste the key in the License field and press Activate.
- The indicator turns to “active”. You paste it only once per computer.
If you installed with Synthetic Setup, the key is already loaded and you do not need to paste it. One key works on 2 computers. Activating it and checking it from time to time needs internet; offline the panel keeps working for up to 30 days.
2. Connect an AI (optional)
The chat suggests curves from what you describe. It is optional: the editor, the presets and everything else work without it. To use it, open the Connections tab and pick one of these ways:
Subscription
Use your Claude Code or ChatGPT (Codex) subscription through its official program. You sign in yourself in the provider's window; AE Curves never sees your password.
API key
Paste your provider's key (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini and others) and choose the model.
Local
Use Ollama (on your computer or in the cloud) or another compatible local server.
