Midokoro for Premiere
Find the best moments
Midokoro listens to your recording, suggests the moments worth sharing, and builds them as clips in your project.
On the home screen, choose Find the best moments. The flow has four steps, shown at the top of the panel: Material, Transcript, Moments and Build.
1. Material
Choose what you want to analyze:
- Project clips: the list of video and audio clips in your open project. Use the search box to find one and Refresh if you added new clips. Files that Premiere can't find are marked "offline".
- Active sequence: Premiere exports the sequence's audio and the moments come back already placed on your timeline. Open the sequence you want to analyze first.
- A file: pick a file with Choose a file… or drop it onto the panel.
If the file has no audio, the panel lets you know: there is nothing to analyze. When you've chosen, click Continue.
2. Transcript
Midokoro needs to know what is said and when. You have two options:
- I already have one: load an SRT or VTT file, or the text with times that you exported from Premiere. Nothing leaves your computer.
- Transcribe it here: the panel uses the transcription connection you chose in Settings (the recommended one is OpenAI). Only the audio is sent. Before starting, it shows you an estimate of the minutes of audio.
3. Moments
Before searching, adjust whatever you like:
| Shortest clip (s) | Minimum length of each moment. 15 seconds by default (from 5 to 600). |
| Longest clip (s) | Maximum length. 90 seconds by default (from 10 to 900). |
| How many clips | The maximum number of moments. 12 by default (from 1 to 40). |
| What are you looking for? (optional) | A hint to guide the search, for example "funny moments, strong opinions, advice". |
| AI review | With the box checked, an AI reads the transcript and chooses and polishes the moments by what is said, not just by how loud it sounds. It needs an AI connection: see Connections. |
Click Find moments. The panel shows which stage it's on (reading the audio, measuring energy and key words, choosing moments, reviewing the cuts, taking pictures…) and you can click Cancel at any time. Meanwhile you can keep working in Premiere.
The results
Each moment appears with a picture, its score, a title, and a sentence that tells you why it's worth sharing. With them you can:
- Sort by score or by position in the video.
- Select all or None, and check by hand the ones you want to build.
- Show in Premiere: opens the source in Premiere, marks the moment's stretch (in and out points), and moves the playhead to its start, so you can see it before building.
Some moments carry notices: "Similar to…" when one resembles another, and "The start may cut an idea" or "The end may cut an idea" when the cut lands in the middle of a sentence.
When you're done choosing, click Build N clips.
4. Build
Choose how you want the clips:
- Format: 9:16 (TikTok, Reels, Shorts), 4:5 (Instagram, Facebook), 3:4, 1:1 (feed, LinkedIn), 4:3, 16:9 (YouTube, TV) or Custom with the size you type. You can pick several: the first one does the analysis and the rest reuse it, almost instantly.
- Framing, zoom and layout: how it follows whoever is speaking. They are explained in The whole clip, in another format, because they are the same settings.
- Subtitles: no subtitles, editable track, with style, or both. See Subtitles.
- Mark the moments in the original: leaves a marker on your original clip at every chosen moment.
- Folder in the project: the name of the folder where the clips are saved ("Midokoro" by default).
Click Build. When it finishes, the panel tells you how many clips are ready in the folder, with a button to open it. What ends up in your project is covered in What ends up in your project.
