Troubleshooting

The panel does not show up in Window → Extensions

Symptom: You installed AE Curves but “Synthetic AE Curves” is not in the menu.

Fix: Close After Effects completely and open it again. If it still does not show up, run Synthetic Setup again with After Effects closed: it reinstalls the panel.

The panel asks you to activate the license

Symptom: “Activate your license in Settings to use the extension” appears and you cannot apply curves.

Fix: Open Settings (the gear at the top right), paste your license key and press Activate. You find it in your purchase email and at /dashboard/licenses. Synthetic Setup can also load it for you: run it again.

“This key is already active on the maximum number of computers”

Symptom: The key is rejected when you activate it on a third computer.

Fix: One key is valid for 2 computers. If you changed computers, write to us from your support dashboard and we free one up.

“The license hasn't been verified in over 30 days”

Symptom: The panel stops applying curves and asks for a connection.

Fix: Connect to the internet and reopen the panel: it verifies by itself and works again. Offline it works for up to 30 days.

The AI chat does not answer

Symptom: You send a request and no reply arrives, or an error shows up.

Fix: Open Connections and press Test on the active connection: it tells you what fails (sign-in, key, quota or network). If it asks you to restart After Effects, do it. The chat is optional: the rest of the panel does not depend on it.

The AI's curves do not apply by themselves

Symptom: The chat proposes curves but nothing changes in the composition.

Fix: It is on purpose: the chat only proposes. Approve the one you like and apply it with the Apply button, or double-click its preview.

I press Apply and nothing happens

Symptom: The button changes nothing in After Effects.

Fix: Open a composition and select the keyframes of a property (or the property, so it creates the animation). With no composition open the panel says “Open a composition”.
